🔍Google has once again delayed the deprecation of third party cookies, as it works to meet the requirements of the U.K.’s Competition and Markets Authority, which has raised various concerns in regards to how the move will impact the broader digital marketing industry, and Google’s competitors in the space.
🎶 US Senate approves TikTok sell-off proposal. The bill stipulating the platform be banned or sold has been signed by President Joe Biden. This means that TikTok now has 270 days to be sold to a U.S.-based owner, or be banned in the nation. TikTok has vowed to fight the bill in the courts, with TikTok CEO Shou Xi Chew labeling it an unconstitutional attack on the app.
📊 New EU report provides insight into LinkedIn usage. Under the new E.U. Digital Services Act, all large online platforms are required to regularly report their E.U. user counts, in order to ensure transparency. LinkedIn is currently serving 47.9 million E.U. users per month, and saw record level of engagement as the platform continues to grow.
🎥 Meta offers $5,000 bonus for influencers to post to Treads. With the latest numbers showing that Threads usage is rising in the U.S., Meta’s now looking to make another push to boost in app engagement, by offering high-profile creators financial incentives to post to the app.
