Instagram tests unskippable ads within the main Instagram feed, and more updates from Threads, X, and Facebook | 04 / 06 / 24

👉 Threads has rolled out a new side-swiping post interest UI to all users. After testing this feature out for the past few months, all Thread users can now swipe right to indicate that they like a post and wish to see more of this type of content, or swipe left to signal that they have no interest.
✍️ X has updated its policy on adult content so that "consensually produced and distributed adult nudity or sexual behaviour" is now officially allowed within the app. X states that it still has strong rules again "content promoting exploitation, nonconsent, objectification, sexualisation or harm to minors" and will not allow adult content to be shown within profile photos and banners.
👥 Facebook has renewed its focus on appealing to younger users. How? The app has started to regain youth interest through Facebook Marketplace where young adults can find great deals, Reels, and Facebook Groups. But, to drive further appeal among younger users, it will focus on three key elements: improving reels and feed ranking, updating the video viewing experience and improving monetisation opportunities for creators.
📱 Instagram is testing new unskippable video ads within the main Instagram feed. The new in-feed ads will appear with a timer at the bottom which you cannot scroll past until the ad timer runs down.
