Launching Wallace & Gromit’s Thrill-O-Matic
Blackpool Pleasure Beach
We took the commercial message of the world’s first Wallace & Gromit ride opening at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and turned it into national print, online and broadcast news for all three phases of the campaign: teaser, launch and reviews.
Using concept artwork and preview press trips, our teaser campaign hit the national news and travel pages, as well as key parenting sites. A delivery of cheese flavoured rock to film buffs, foodie and family writers secured coverage for Blackpool Pleasure Beach, in outlets they had never appeared in before.
We utilised Nick Park, creator of the Wallace & Gromit characters, for the launch and grand opening of the ride with media interaction, a national photoshoot and broadcast interviews.
In the review phase, media lauded the ride with over 50 pieces of coverage secured, which helped make the launch weekend the most successful weekend of the year for Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
